- St. Mary’s School
“The children thoroughly enjoyed looking around the castle, especially the spiral staircase and finding out where the medieval toilets were! The staff at Hedingham were brilliant too, not only on the day but on the lead up with the booking process too. I would definitely recommend Hedingham Castle for a school trip and will be taking my classes there again in the future. Thank you”
- Hatfield Peveral Primary School
“All the children were engaged fully, including the children with SEN. Both historians had great knowledge about the castle and gave the children facts to remember at their age level. They have remembered so much.
The morning was well spent in the castle and because we were lucky with the weather, the children had a great time playing on the field outside the castle after their lunch. The woodland walk at the end of the visit was beautiful too.
I would highly recommend... It was a very successful day!”
Hands On The Past
Twice a year for a week at a time, Hedingham Castle steps back in time. Hands on the Past is a group of medieval interpreters who come together to present Living History for Schools, for children of all ages and abilities. Learn how to be an apothecary, an archer, how to use a pike and bow and arrow, all within medieval tents and the spectacular setting of the Castle. Visit the Hands on the Past website for more information, upcoming dates and to book.
Birds of Prey Educational Workshops
We work closely with Eden Falconry who are a superb family-run Bird of Prey centre in Essex. They provide educational falconry experiences for all ages; imagine flying a bird from your wrist through the historical landscape of the Castle and grounds - the thrill is unforgettable.
